An army of dead
men in blue that no one could see but me stood like solemn monuments to their
death.
They were the
last of their kind, you see.
Only one lost
soul could help us now.
Huh.

Lost heart.
She might make
them young men see, those poor bastards who blindly followed me; a blind
fool.
She could make me
see as well.
You know, we did not know our path.
Yet…
Truly, I say to
you that I had no idea what was about to happen next.

The skies opened
up and the angry sun poured an ocean of tears.
I think that it
was the sort of thing that occurred in the desert every hundred years or so.
It was a
hundred-year flood.
The desert is
carved with arroyos for this sort of event…
Mountains have
fallen and left remnants: are they mesas and tableaus?
Arroyos are
ancient river beds that will drown one in the desert.
They will
extinguish cabin fires and all other sorts of ion exchanges, even electricity…
…and they can
also wash out the graves of the long-dead.
Are we truly
connected in the desert, in the silt from desiccation, from eroding wind
storms, from faded memories of eons ago?
We will see.
God Help You.
God Help Us All.
